HOW CAN I HELP SAVE THE BLUEGRASS?

Conserve your farmland

If you are considering the possibilities of protecting your land for the future, please feel free to discuss, without obligation, your goals with the staff at the Bluegrass Conservancy. If you decide to place a conservation easement on your farm, you will be joining a growing group of happy land owners who have gained enormous satisfaction in knowing that they are creating a priceless legacy for generations to come.

Become a member

Support from members allows the Bluegrass Conservancy to operate. Please tell your friends, family and neighbors about the Bluegrass Conservancy. As a member, you will be investing in the future of the Bluegrass. You will receive our newsletter and be kept informed of issues and events.

Become a volunteer

Saving the Bluegrass is a big job and one we can't do alone. Your willingness to contribute your time and talents will help us achieve our goals.

Give a gift in honor of someone

We proudly accept donations in honor of birthdays, graduations, marriages, anniversaries, and other holidays as well as donations in memory of loved ones. The honoree or their family will be notified of your contribution, so please provide the honoree's address with your gift.

Make a Donation

Gifts to the Bluegrass Conservancy are tax deductible. Bluegrass Conservancy accepts cash, checks, investments and other funds. Contributions to the Conservancy's Easement Endowment Fund will help fund the monitoring and enforcement of conservation easements. Please remember the Bluegrass Conservancy in your will and estate planning.

Make a Planned Gift

A will bequest is a wonderful way to create a lasting legacy. Several other planned giving techniques are available for supporting the Conservancy and conserving our treasured farmland. Click here for more information.

Invite us to speak to your group

We welcome the opportunity to speak to groups interested in farmland protection. The Conservancy has developed a power point presentation about rural preservation efforts and can tailor the presentation to the audience and its interests.

Support businesses that support farmland preservation

Shop locally and promote businesses that do not encourage sprawl. Ask your grocery store and favorite restaurants if they buy local produce and support places that do. Remember that buying produce directly from the farmers' market is one of the most important ways you can help a farmer.

Wear a Bluegrass Conservancy "Save Our Farms" button

We distribute buttons for free at events where we expect to meet Bluegrass conservationists. If you haven't seen us out and about, feel free to call the office and we will happily mail you a button. If you know of an event where distributing Conservancy brochures and buttons would be worthwhile, please let us know.

Be our eyes and ears

Watch for articles about farmland conservation. Clip them and send them to us. If your favorite places have become parking lots or new subdivisions, write a letter to the newspaper and your elected officials encouraging farmland protection.

Visit local farms

Learn more about farming in the Bluegrass by making an appointment to show off the Bluegrass next time you host visitors. Information regarding free tours is available at the Lexington Visitors Bureau at www.visitlex.com.
